— Bucks party · Sydney

A bucks party that isn't a strip club.

You've been to enough breweries and paintball venues. The Modding Bench runs a different kind of bucks party in Sydney — your whole group sits at the bench, builds a working mechanical watch each, and at the end of the afternoon every one of you leaves wearing something you built together. The groom's keeps the date of the wedding inside the case back if he wants.

What the day looks like

Surry Hills workshop, Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Beers, coffee or whatever you bring. 4 to 5 hours hands-on. Each person picks their parts from a wall of options — dial, hands, case, bracelet — assembles their movement, sets the hands, cases it up, and watches it tick for the first time. Photos throughout. Group portrait with the finished watches at the end.

Why it works for bucks groups

What it costs

Corporate tier — from $400 per person, minimum 6, maximum 8 in the room. Includes the movement, dial, hands, case, bracelet, all tools, instruction, and the watch you take home. We can bring in a videographer or organise a private dinner option after — message us.

What you build

We use Seiko-ecosystem automatic movements — the NH35, NH36, or NH38 are standard. These are the same movement family used in current Seiko 5 watches; they're robust, accurate, and the modding community's gold standard. Cases come in a range of styles — classic dress, dive-style, integrated bracelet, pilot. Dials in sunburst, matte, skeleton or vintage finishes. Your build, your call.

Also works for

Hens nights (same format, same price — just a different group photo at the end). Birthday groups. Work team-building. Anniversary parties. We've run the same format for all of them.
